Bandit
I worked on the short film Bandit as a freelancer and handled all of its VFX. The hardest shot was setting a car on fire. 3D tracking failed because the footage had very little detail and a character in the foreground blocked the view. A 2D track couldn't cope with the parallax either, so I tracked the shot frame by frame with a corner pin.
Building the fire took a lot of work to get the shapes and colours right. I also had to relight the ground, which was difficult because the plate gave me so little detail to work from. Rotoscoping the foreground characters was hard too. The scene was dark with a black sky, so their black helmets and clothes merged together and much of it came down to guesswork and small adjustments.
In other shots I added muzzle flashes and debris hits.
